The Personal Care Products Council is pleased to present the first edition of the Compilation of Ingredients Used in Cosmetics in the United States (CIUCUS). This publication represents the first compilation of its kind to be used as a reference for ingredients that have been reported to the Food and Drug Administration Voluntary Cosmetics Registration Program (VCRP). CIUCUS provides a compilation of ingredients that have documented use in cosmetics and is a useful companion for the definitive International Cosmetic Ingredient Dictionary (ICID). The ICID provides a comprehensive international reference of descriptive and technical information about substances that have been identified as potential cosmetic ingredients.  While the ICID is a useful reference for product formulators, regulators, physicians, raw material suppliers, and consumers, it does not include actual ingredient usage data. CIUCUS provides the frequency of use information for INCI names based on the VCRP database.
